The
WWII German MG-34 is without a doubt one of the most
revolutionary machine gun designs of the 20th Century. Rather
than designing different guns for light, medium, aircraft, and
armoured roles, this single design did it all! It was in fact
the first ever to receive the title "general purpose
machine gun" (GPMG), a term coined after WWII.
