The
Yugoslavians, renowned for taking an already successful weapon
design and making a much improved version for themselves,
effectively created the last of the high quality precision
machined component submachine guns with their M-49.
|
|
|
|
Rather
than making the PPSH 41 with all stamped steel components spot
welded in place, the Yugoslavs produced their own version of an
already utterly reliable design employing carefully machined
parts! The results were predictably excellent and the Yugo M-49
SMG still makes the occasional appearance in some of the world's
hot spots (the recent Kosovo conflict being a prime example).

These
well-made guns would be equally at home on display at an arms
exhibit or in the hands of actors performing a guerilla war,
action behind the Iron Curtain (or in a locale formerly behind
it) or other similar role.
