The
WWII German MG-42 was produced in Yugoslavia during the German
occupation of WWII and, following liberation (the former
Yugoslavia being the only nation to accomplish this without
assistance from American, Commonwealth, or Soviet troops), set
about the task of arming itself.
|
|
|
|
Yugoslavia
had extensive stores of captured German weaponry and received
even more small arms from various countries following the end of
WWII. Having already developed its own arms industry, the
Yugoslavs were already experts at copying and improving upon
existing weapons designs through simple virtue of stringent
quality control and high grade materials.

Finding
no machine gun design to outmatch that which the Germans and
their allies had left behind, Yugoslavia, taking advantage of
the tooling left behind by the Third Reich and of the skills
learned from their former oppressors, began making their own
MG-42 (designated 'M-53'). These are extremely finely made, the
main difference being the slower rate of fire. These look
identical to the WWII German MG-42 - perfect for movies and
exhibits. Best of all, these guns are in brand new, un-issued
condition!
