Where it all began...

The 1866 was the first rifle to bear the name Winchester. It was a worthy heir to the famous Henry 1860—the first truly successful repeating rifle. In addition to its distinctive solid brass frame, the Yellow Boy featured a number of improvements over the Henry, including a patented cartridge loading gate system and the convenient wooden forend.

The unique brass receiver would give way to sturdier steel beginning with the 1873. But the Yellow Boy remains as a handsome, distinctive reminder of another age and a centerpiece of any gun collection.
