1874 Sharps Falling Block Rifles

No firearm is more closely associated with the great bison hunts of the 1870’s and 1880‘s than the big bore single shot Sharps model 1874 – so much so that this model is sometimes referred to as the ‘Old Reliable Buffalo Rifle.’ Like their Civil war paper cartridge predecessors, the 1874 Sharps rifle’s immensely strong ‘falling block’ breech and solid steel receiver made this cartridge-firing classic the quintessential big bore single shot rifle of the late 19th century.

Pedersoli set the standard for Sharps rolling block rifles with their finely crafted precision machined hand finished firearms, each of which is an excellent example of old world craftsmanship from days gone by along with the tight tolerances of today that only the best in computer-controlled CNC machinery can deliver. Many of the models come equipped with double set triggers, beautifully colour case-hardened receivers, and premium hand finished European walnut stocks, making each Pedersoli Sharps a work of art in its own right.

	Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Old West "Maple" .45-70 The new 1874 Sharps Old West gets its inspiration from a rifle made by Henry Slotterbeck, a gunsmith from Württemberg who emigrated to the States around the 1850s who, after having worked for some years for Henry Deringer in Philadelphia, founded the Slotter & Co. The stock features brass hardware for the "Walnut" version, German silver hardware for the "Maple" version. On the right side of the butt stock there is a plate that which can be personalized with some engraving of choice. The forend has wedge plates. Creedmoor and tunnel sights not included.

The pistol-grip stock is outfitted with a shotgun-style buttplate. This gun uses a double set trigger for precise accuracy. The blued, octagonal 30" barrel has a 1-in 18" rate of twist. It is chambered for the potent and popular .45-70 cartidge. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation, and the rifle comes pre-drilled to accept an optional Creedmore-style sight (sold separately) should you choose to add one.

	Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Billy Dixon Rifle .45-70 Named after the young and famous scout, who hit a Kiowa warrior at 1538 yards, shooting with his Sharps Sporting on June 27, 1874 at Adobe Walls, Texas. Billy Dixon and 27 buffalo hunters were surrounded by more than 500 Kiowa and Comanche warriors, spurred by their 'medicine man' who convinced them they were invulnerable to the 'white' shots. 	Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Long Range Rifle .45-70 Accurate reproduction of the rifle Sharps Long Range model made in December of 1876, converting rifles with 32” (813 mm) barrels length to 34” (864 mm). At the beginning it was produced with single trigger, only in February of 1879 some hundred pieces have been made with double set trigger. Stock and forend are made of selected walnut, checkered. The stock of civil type with pistol grip and cheek piece enables the shooting stability. The forend is completed with a German silver cap.
